The True Cost of Lice A Common Misconception - Penny Warner, RN, NE-BC The average family spends approximately 3 to 6 months (some may even spend years) trying to rid their child of head lice. Typically, an over-the-counter product containing permethrin will be purchased for the first treatment and then repeated in 7 days. Two weeks later, the parents realize their child still has lice. Next, they will try another brand of a permethrin-based product and then, again, repeat in 7 days. Two weeks later, the lice are back! At this point, a search of the Internet will be done where lice and nit killing products ‘guaranteed’ to work abound. More products are purchased, more combing and cleaning is done; and yet, the lice and nits remain. Totally frustrated, as well as completely exhausted, a call is made to the family’s physician and a prescription for a more potent lice treatment is obtained. Two weeks later, the little critters are back! Parents will also typically dispose of personal items, such as brushes, hair ornaments, and pillows; as well as spend countless hours cleaning and doing laundry – most of which is totally unnecessary. So, let’s take a look at how much the average family will spend to treat ONE person:
Costs that cannot be calculated: Now let’s compare the above to a child treated at The Texas Lice Squad:
The family’s lice problem is resolved with one treatment, without the use of pesticides, chemicals, or neurotoxins. No countless hours are spent combing and cleaning, the stress level is relieved within 10 minutes of talking with one of our Lice Consultants, little time is missed from work and school, and everyone is able to go back to their normal routine. Can you afford to not have your child treated by the Texas lice Squad? 2009 - The Texas Lice Squad RN, LLC |
